Each student performs research activity followed by a Tutor, who supervises the research project and has the responsibility of the effectiveness of the plan.

Tutors involve PhD students in relevant research projects, as well as in research contracts with public institutions and private companies.

PhD students may be occupied in integrative didactic activity, under the supervision and the presence of a teacher, up to 40 hours per year; these activities are not compulsory, and may consist, for instance, in seminars, laboratory practice, assistance to students in the preparation of the final dissertation.

Each student is requested to write a report, at the end of each year of course, including the activity of research performed during the year, the participation to STEBA and other seminars, the publications and participation to congress, the eventual integrative didactic activity.

Every year a workshop is organized, where each PhD student is invited to present the progress of their research activity.
