RESEARCH TOPICS FOR XXXIX CYCLE – Selection procedure for one position with grant on the specific topic “Development of novel approaches to re-educate the gut microbiome”

Title of the Research Topic: Development of novel approaches to re-educate the gut microbiome

1 (one) position with grant funded by project “Health Extended ALliance for Innovative Therapies, Advanced Lab-research, and Integrated Approaches of Precision Medicine - HEAL ITALIA” tematica 6 “Innovative diagnostics and therapies in precision medicine” funded by European Union NextGenerationEU- ref. Avviso MUR 341/2022

Scientific Tutor: Prof. Maddalena Rossi

Research topic: Alterations in the composition and function of the microbiota have been linked to the initiation and progression of several diseases. Moreover, the presence of specific microbial is predictive of response or failure of therapies. Thus, interventions aimed at restoring an eubiotic microbiota are key to promote long-lasting therapeutic success. In the context of the project “Health Extended ALliance for Innovative Therapies, Advanced Lab-research, and Integrated Approaches of Precision Medicine - HEAL ITALIA” tematica 6 “Innovative diagnostics and therapies in precision medicine”, the PhD student will implement analysis of metagenomes to monitor microbiome composition and functions. Novel microbiota-targeting intervention will be developed and validated to specifically modulate gut microbiome composition in order to ameliorate the therapeutic responses.
